Team Special Forces today mourns the remarkable life of the game of Tanarus, which after 13 years of old-school tank combat, has finally been taken offline today, June 10, 2010. In-game, we were known as "Special Forces" and our players sported the [SF] tag from late 1997 onwards. Although our activity in the game had declined significantly in recent years, Team Special Forces has had the distinction of being one of the longest-serving teams in Tanarus. Even some of the jaded veterans milling about the nearly-empty servers in recent days were surprised to still see the occasional player from [SF].
In the future, we hope to assemble a comprehensive look into the history of our team, including our extensive records in Tanarus. As of last night, the first and longest-existing [SF] division in Tanarus was firmly seated at #35 in the list of top-scoring Tanarus teams of all time, with 109,537,732 total accumulated points over 13 years. We estimate that if our other two divisions were added to the first, it would place us at least in the top 30 if not the top 25 top-scoring Tanarus teams of all time.
We also remember the many dozens of [SF] members over the past 13 years who made this remarkable team what it is today. Even though many have moved on with their lives, we are immensely grateful for their time that they spent here with us and welcome them to stay in contact with our community. It's hard to imagine that when Prodigy assembled his first handful of [SF] members all those years ago that anyone could have imagined what the future would bring. Our rosters have at one point or another been a venerable who's who of prominent Tanarus players. Some started their gaming careers here and were not well-known yet when they played for us. Others remained famous even as the game entered its twilight years.
Team Special Forces gratefully extends its appreciation to the extended Tanarus community for the last 13 years of camaraderie and excellent gaming. We wish all of you the best in your future endeavors, and that you would always remember the rough and tumble days where Internet gaming was in its infancy and we all game together to define the level of gameplay that is now expected from everyone else.

Team Special Forces is pleased to announced the establishment of its Left 4 Dead Division, which will play in both Left 4 Dead and Left 4 Dead 2. For the last several months, the team has been experimenting with the game on a trial basis in order to gauge member interest. By establishing a formal division, our L4D players will now have access to a wide variety of team resources and can now directly recruit L4D/2 players. The division's Commanding Officer is Mojomonkey, who led the provisional L4D squad and has previously worked as a staff member in the team's Recruitment Operations department. The new division will take shape over the next few days, and applications for L4D/2 are being accepted now!
